Have you ever considered having a bible study at your house but didn't know where to begin?
Have you ever felt like you want to have a get together with people but didn't know what material to lead from?
Have you ever felt like you didn't know enough to teach or lead a group but wouldn't mind coordinating it?
Have you heard of small groups but never went to one, yet still think they sound appealing?
I fell into a couple of those categories before I tried them myself. My church found a system for small group discipleship from another church and it works because it's simple. People are built for relationships. Small group get-togethers build closeness. The bible calls us to go and make disciples of all nations. This training focuses on how to be a disciple builder through sharing and understanding the bible.
This training is geared toward training you to facilitate a group; suggest bible stories, manage the time spent with the group, gage where others in the group are spiritually, and how to help individuals get to the next spiritual step. It's not geared to make you a street evangelist or a televangelist. In a small group the material you use is the bible. You tell a bible story and then discuss it. Open discussion about the story with the group allows you to facilitate without having to hold a degree in divinity.
The training that I am speaking of happens in a small group setting and hopes to model a group that you might one day lead. We'll meet one day a week for 2 hours on Sunday nights (flexible to move to Sat if by group decision). The training is free, though there is a $15 manual that goes with the training. The manual has daily assignments that take approximately 15 minutes to work through like a devotional. Each week we will discuss what you worked through in the manual. It's a co-ed group but you don't have to be married to attend. I am asking for a high level of commitment to the manual and the group. We will meet for 16 weeks. Believe me, time flies by. Did I mention we will have snacks? I live near Catonsville, MD. My class is almost full and I plan to kick off March 3rd. PM me to reserve a slot or have questions.
