OUR 2010 ADOPT A FAMILY

Adopt-a-family:

We have been assigned a family through the Adopt of Family Program

The family is a single mom with 4 kids (three boys and one baby girl). The boys' ages are 9, 5, and 3 and the girl is 3 months old.

We are providing a Thanksgiving and Christmas meal and also plan on providing at least a gift or two for the kids at Christmas.

In the next few weeks we will be posting up their needs and how our members can help-so stayed tuned.

Oh that's great! I can't wait!

Thanksgiving dinner is already taken care of (although we have to find out if she has an oven). And we can deliver it to her the night before or whenever.

I also have a small (4') lighted Christmas tree we could give her. We could pick up some ornaments, etc.

I'm excited to meet her.

Nicole (a great girl we know from Rausch Creek) has a garbage bag (or 2) of little boy's toys that she's offered to give us for our family!!!

How wonderful! I know our adopted mom will appreciate it!

Ok: So I spoke with our adopted mom this week. Here is the scoop.

She does have an oven and refrigerator -so she can cook a turkey.
No known food allergies - although peas are not a favorite.

She already has a Christmas tree.

The boys are really into action figures (batman, spiderman, superman etc).
The baby can use clothes size 3-6 months, socks, onsies diapers, etc.

She can always use:

- laundry detergent (she uses Purel Baby (for the baby because of very sensitive skin) and regular Purel for the boys clothers.
-baby wipes (non-scented)
-shampoo (baby shampoo)
-dish liquid (ajax or gain)
-soap (dove body wash)

She will call me if she thinks of any other items for the kids. I will probably plan on touching base with her in a week or so.

Angel Food Ministries has a "Thanksgiving Dinner" Box that has:

7.5 lb.....Roasting Hen (not quite turkey, but...)
3 lb........Ham roast
12.........dinner rolls
1 lb........frozen cranberries
2............boxes of stuffing
12..........half ears of corn
2lbs........green beans
2 lbs.......cut sweet potatoes
Gravy
Pumpkin pie
cooking instructions

ALL THIS FOR $36!!!!!!!!

Mabye we can find out too if the mother herself needs anything ie: clothes, shoes or even bedding or towels and stuff like that. I'm very excited to go shopping for them! And after we go shopping we can wrap everything at our house! what do you think??
