Got the t-case out after work today. The crack seems to be in a weird spot. Anybody have a reason why it would crack there? Maybe the front driveshaft bottomed out?

I'm betting thats what happened then. The trans mount would have busted before the crack if it was the driveshaft. I've seen someone have their front driveshaft too long and It grenaded everything though. That, however, took out a whole lot more than just the X-fer case. My money is on the rock gremlins.

Paula asked me what i'm laughing about...

Answering a question with a picture – that’s classic!

It was a good run, you’ll get it next time.

Here's what I picked up at the u-pull today.

cracked t-case 100_1718

t-case, 130 amp alternator, frame sections to reinforce the frame for the rear leaf spring hangers, e-brake cable connector, and some other gobble-de-gook. I am going to fix the 1qt/100 mile oil leak too. I looked under the bronco and realized I'm going to have pull the whole exhaust, up to the headers, out. I hate messing with the exhaust, because there's always a leak somewhere when I put it back together. groan

Might want to consider a t-case skid there too....while its out is a good time to take your measurements, etc.

Very Happy
