I'm going to be looking at an '04 Rubicon. Could somebody tell me what off-roading features were standard equipment that year? Such as skid plates, lockers, disconnects, lift, tires, etc.

Well Ed, mine's an '05 Unlimited version, but I suspect other than the wheelbase, they're the same. 31X10.5 Goodyear MT tires, 4.10 gears, 4:1 transfer case, Dana 44 axles, both with air lockers, rocker panels, and cool Rubicon graphics yeah

Also I think the springs are a little heavier than other models and the u-joints are made of solid steel, not drilled out for grease fittings like normal vehicles. Also, all breather tubes (for auto transmission and diffs) have tubes that extend up to the level of the radiator so there's less chance of sucking in mud and water. I'm not sure if that's just a Rubicon thing or not, but I thought I read somewhere that it was.

In my opinion, it's the air lockers and that 4:1 transfer case that really make the difference. Oh yeah, and you don't need a SYE kit (or a transfer case drop kit) if your gonna lift her. Mine has a RE 3.5" suspension lift and I have no driveline vibrations at all.

I test drove the Rubi and it was really nice. Unofrtunately the dealership wasn't read to give me even half of the value of the Liberty that I had bought from them 9 months ago for trade in.

If anyone wants a nice 2004 Rubicon with hard and soft tops, automatic, and 40k miles; call Claude Keefer (a personal friend for many years--since elementary Sunday School class) at Whitmoyer GM in Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania, at (717) 689-0619 (his cell phone). Asking price is $15,995.
