| You should go to YouTube and search "Xterra". I belonged to a couple clubs with people who have very nicely modified Xterras. They are great offroad, but I feel like it's a tank, seeing as it is so big....thats why I'd love a Jeep again. | |

| there must be something wrong with me. I cried my eyes out about it yesterday....but that could have been from not feeling well because of the migraine. I was outside with Paco last night and looked down near the garage where I would always look and see Pete's front end parked there....it made me sad to not see it. I never park there anymore. I park the Blazer with the other cars. I probably should try to find something cheap to wheel. I'm losing interest in a lot of things I shouldn't be losing interest in. I need a boost and I just hate not having my X. | |

| You just need to get out and wheel a vehicle of you own. Just do it.

I'd see if you could rent one at Enterprise or something. I wheeled a K-Car I rented in Colorado in 1975. Went through a golf course I did. I'm not proud of it...well, I'm not proud of it now, but I was in '75 when I did it.

"go out and rent a four wheel drive, then take it out and beat it like a red head step child."..............not that beating a red head step child is a good thing. i would of done that in a heartbeat, when i was laid over in vegas for a week, waiting for a load........but the 'ol curse of empty pockets

There are already at least four commercial aftermarket manufacturers for Xterra front bumpers, so you would have a bit of competition. What there is very little of are manufacturers of fender flares (to keep it legal with wide tires). Also, there a several people who are interested in tube doors (I have only ever seen one X with tube doors) but no one makes them. k_enn

| Yah, but they're all the same. All Xterras with them look the same.......no variety. Adam, I can send you pics of the ones already out there.....that way you know what NOT to make it look like. You'll have no competition when it comes to people who don't want to be like everyone else*. You could also check out some prerunner bumpers and the bumpers they have for the FJ Cruiser and make a mix of your own.....because my Blazer WILL need a front bumper eventually. I'll work with you on it! *(one particular group of Xterra people have a problem with anyone being slightly different, or they bash them....you should see the rotten-spirited thread they have going on one site about this one poor guy's X just because they don't "approve" of the guys' mods. It's the main reason I left that club LONG before I totaled my X. Their loudest ones are the cheesiest offenders too. They were picking on him for not wheeling it (as if they KNOW) when their biggest 'challenge' day of wheeling consists of stuff everyone with slight mods on a different vehicle has done. I hate double standards. I believe in giving people a bit of respect just for loving their vehicle enough to take time to do things to it.

I hope you are not referring to a current thread on one of the Xterra boards about the guy with the lifted X who has his winch fastened to a factory brush guard (and which will pull the brush guard off the truck if the truck is really stuck) and who has a hi-lift mounted on the truck but no sliders, tow points, or other point to use the hi-lift on. Sorry, but I have to agree with the comments posted about his truck and how it cannot have been seriously wheeled. Now I know some of the other boards can get vicious at times. And I don't fault you there. k_enn

| I have a firm belief that anything can be done to a vehicle. And I've seen the improbable happen. All it takes is the proper amount of imagination, determination, and a little trial and error. I have seen a brand new Chevy Colorado with a completly custom solid axle swap and 39.5 inch tires. Most of you hopefully have seen that TJ on 49s. There are many bumper manufacturers out there, but all it takes is the imagination to build something completely one of a kind. I plan on building complete tube fenders, not just flares but fenders, that increase the rigidity of the vehicle and allow larger tires with less lift and bash proof. Tube doors are simple to make and can be made 1000 different ways to suit an individuals taste....the key word there is individual. Any mod is a good mod as long as it's safe and the owner likes it...i could show hundreds of pics of vehicles with mods that I don't particularly care for, but the owner loves it and thats all that matters. The bottom line is this...anything you can dream up can be built. Some things that are built are hard to dream up. Never stop pushing the envelope of custom, and no matter what....enjoy your rig no matter if its stock or on 54's.
Ok...I'm done preaching....lol...but on the serious side...if you have an idea, please, by all means share it and we'll see if we can't build something.

| Adam, you're 100% right. I just find that among certain vehicles, there's not a lot of originality. That's why I think you'll do great if you just stick with your imagination and what works. Ken, they have a way of putting people down instead of being creative/constructive with their comments. They're looking at cell phone pics...you have no idea what's anchoring that winch. Hi-lift? So? I had a shovel and an axe....but never needed them. I carried things in my X I wouldn't need, but someone else might. I would have put a hi-lift on mine and I didn't have sliders either. But someone, somewhere may need one and if I have the space to put one and wheel with other people, why not have one? So what if he cut his factory bumper? He showed some imagination when maybe he didn't have the money for the clone bumpers everyone else has. You never see a Jeep forum where someone is bashing another's Jeep....no matter what silly mods they have. I have been on countless Blazer forums and no one behaves that way. One Blazer club I belong to has everything from 6" lifted Blazers to bagged/lowered Blazers on 22s. Everyone compliments everyone else. THAT's the way a 'community of like vehicles' or 'club' should behave. You're not like them.....you were the one that got me excited about my X. That's all. Now.....we are way off topic. This thread is about my Xterra...the one that wanted more than anything to not be like any other. | |
