Hey guys and gals. I want to first thank Jesus for dying on the croos and saving me.
My name is "EASTSIDE". I have a 1993 JEEP YJ. Right now it is completely stock. That will change very soon. I have been into 4x4 since I was old enough to remember. The first 4x4 I ever rode in was a 1975 Jeep CJ5. I've been hooked ever since. I live in Denton NC. I am only 15 minutes from URE National Forest. I got rid of my offroad toys until recently while my wife and I were raising three kids. They are far from grown but are now old enough to enjoy getting out there. I hope to enjoy being a member even though I am a good distance from you. I have 20+ years as an ASE certified heavy equipment mechanic, but I always work on my own rides and others as well.

Hey Eastside and Welcome!  We are glad you found us- we enjoy our long distance members!  I am Mudslinger (aka Dennis) and my wife and I live in Maryland.  I have a 2006 LJ and 1995 YJ.  Looking to do some modifications on the YJ so I get some better...well any sort of flex. Thinking possible revolver shackles and some other stuff.

We are trying to do a better job keeping the forum updated....we have a lot of pictures on our Facebook page that will show you what the club has been up to.  We typically have trail runs to Rausch Creek but we are looking to visit some new places.....who knows maybe a trip to NC one day.

Anyway, give us a shout if you have any questions or need anything.   God bless.

I don't know much about Rausch creek, but if y'all do get a chance to come to NC I don't think that URE will disappoint you.
As far as your upgrades go, steer clear of the revolver shackles unless it is a trailer queen. I had them on a Suzuki samurai some years back and they have horrible road manners. Try using FSJ(Wagoner, truck or full size Cherokee) front springs all the way around on the YJ. It will give roughly a 2" lift and will stretch your wheelbase a total of 4". This is due to the offset measurements of the springs. The spring pin is offset. I can give you some more details on this if it is something that you might be interested in. A longer wheelbase is most of the time better unless you ride on very tight and technical trails with marginal room for error.

YJ is just a trail rig...doing mostly rocks. Doesn't matter if it handles on the road. I bought the YJ with a spring over 3 1/2 " teraflex lift already on it but the leafs are only lift springs no flex. Whole rig sits on 35" MTRs. So thinking about changing over to a set of stock leafs off another YJ and revolver shackles. Heard pros and cons about revolvers but thought it might be worth a try...

If it's a trail rig then revolvers are good, just make sure you account for the extra droop/twist in your drivelines.
