Hi! Long time no talk! I'm so bad at not logging in here:( sorry....

So we wheeled for our first time this weekend and want to throw out some thoughts to have y'all help us tackle!

Lift/build JK or find a 'beater' wrangler?

I have to head into work but I figured I'd let y'all start throwing out ideas and when I get a free minute I'll tell you my thoughts. My Sam will probably chime in too haha. Thanks!

It really depends on what you want to do... Trail rides, Green / Blues, build the JK Blacks Reds trailer and truck, beater wrangler.

You can fit 35's on a JK with minimal lift. first advice after that would be to truss the axles. I have seen too many pictures of broken/bent axle tubes on JK's

So the biggest question is what do you want to do with it

If the JK is your daily driver, you may want to consider getting a "beater" if you plan to wheel hard. When you wheel hard, sooner or later something is going to break, and unless you can get it repaired quickly you may be without a needed vehicle. That being said, if you run greens and blues and drive smart, you should be ok building up a daily driver. My old Xterra was a daily driver, and I ran greens, blues and a few black sections with it without any major loss of use (the worst was that it was in a shop for a few days when I destroyed the front diff).

If you go the "beater" route, keep in mind that some components may already be pretty beat, and that may increase the likelihood of trail breakage.
