| I did not see a topic on daily Scriptures on this forum (maybe I did not search hard enough), but I see lots of folks posting sciptures on FB. Thought I'd start this topic and if anyone feels like posting go right ahead. I'll start.
Joshua 1:9: "'I command you to be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or dismayed. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you may go!'
Why this scripture on this day: My wife's cousin supports some of the LiveStong efforts in the fight against cancer. Today she posted that one of the people she had been following the status of online - Drew - died following his battle with bone cancer. He wrote that this was one of his favorite verses that helped him a lot. So I kind of figured that if it helped Drew with the battle he had to face, if can certainly help those of us with less pressing problems.

| Great idea Jeff!
Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your hear and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.
When you are going through something this verse reminds you to just trust in God and he will see you through whatever it is.

| The verse before, Joshua 1:8 is a great life verse and has similar implications to Proverbs
Joshua 1:8 "Don't let this book of the law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make you way properous and then you will have success."

| Psalm 51 is one of my favorites. What David did to Uriah showed how sin, if unchecked, can cascade upon itself. Lust lead to adultery, which lead to conspiracy to bear false witness against Uriah. When this did not work, David had Uriah murdered in battle. Only when Nathan asked him if he knew what he had done did David realize how far he had strayed. He wrote this wonderful sinner's prayer, coming back to the Lord with a broken spirit and contrite heart, asking for another chance. Some of my favorite verses:
51:7 "Purge me with hyssop , and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."
51:10-13: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee."
The reference to washing in vs. 7 makes me think of how someone might wash things 3,000 years ago - with a rock on the banks of a stream. David was not interested in a superficial cleansing of his sin, but wanted something more substantial. A sincere admission of guilt to the Lord and plea for forgiveness.

There is a good praise song that we do in my church that uses verses 10-12 as the first verse of the song. I guess the Psalms were really meant a songs. They sure stand up to the test time. k_enn

k_enn We sing this one in our church choir just about every year. I know we've done 2 settings, I prefer the one we used about 10 years ago. It also freqently finds itself incorporated in my morning prayers.

| Matthew 19:14 - "Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
For the little angels gathered up to The Lord yesterday, way before their time. And for the heroes who died trying to protect them in the face of evil. Pattey - thanks for posting this one to your FB wall.

AMEN!!!! As these unfortunate, devistating events happen, this world, unfortunately, will one day drown itself in evil if we (I myself included) don't pull together as human beings and respect one another, have faith in God a lot stronger and pray a lot longer. RIP angels

| Our elementary age youth group at my church is called Kids of Grace. Here's the K.O.G. memory verse for January.
Ephesians 4:31-32. "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, fighting and lying, along with every form of cruelness. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ forgave you."

| Mary and I lead our K.O.G. (Kids of Grace - our grade-school youth group) this month. We went with this Memory Verse for March 2013:
Mark 12:30-31. - “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

| John 15:13 - "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
I thought of this verse during the sermon at church on Palm Sunday. My pastor quoted from the Star Trek 2 movie in his sermon, the scene where Spock was dying (at least in that movie): "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few, or the one." OK, I must be a Trekkie. When he said he was going to quote from that movie, I knew exactly this quote, as what I thought would be the most relevant tie-in for Passion week from that movie.

| Acts 1:8
8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
