| Pattey,
I've done that hill about five times now, the first couple times with just a rear locker. When I finally got the front locker working correctly I thought I could go up it a little slower, but found that I have to lay pretty heavily on the skinny pedal. It always gives me and adrenaline (did I spell that correctly) rush when the front end goes airborne while going up hill. I don't have any idea how close I come to flipping over backwards, but it's not for the feint of heart. |

It's possible I'll be there, but not likely. It's supposed to be opening day of soccer ceremonies for my granddaughter (player) and duaghter (coach) on Saturday. And my wife does not like me to miss church to go wheelin'. So here's how I'll be there: If it rains like crazy Friday night ,making the soccer fields unplayable on Saturday; but isn't raining on Saturday, keeping me dry in my topless Wrangler--I'll be there. OR . . . if I play hookey from church on Sunday . . . I do have open days on Friday the 22nd and Friday the 29th if I can find anybody to go with. |

The pictures were taken by Dean Shirley, who is now going into the business for himself as 4 Low Digital Labs. He just completed his master's degre in some sort of religious studies (I don't want to be specific because I'm not sure) and is looking to teach at the college/seminary level. He takes literally hundreds of pictures each time out and then puts them on CD for us at a price that certainly can't be supporting him. As for the YJ: It's got 31 inch mud tires, two inch suspension lift, one inch body lift, Aussie rear locker, Ected electric front locker (that's finally working correctly after about two years), skid plates, and disconnects; but other than that is pretty much stock. Oh, and the light bar I got from a guy for a really low price and just had to have it even though I'll probably never use it. |

Awesome! I'm looking at picking up a used Jeep down the road. Hopefully a Rubi. Something I can build for some Rocks. This Xterra is my daily driver and I can't afford the down time if I break it. Plus it's not as "off Road" as they advertise. Allot of folks have been breaking front and rear diffs. The rear is a modified Dana 44 with the side gears cut down to accommodate the locker. Guess it didn't work out too well. It's good for a little snow or mud but beware the rocks! Nice job on the hill BTW. Good driving skilz there! | |

My whole idea and approach to wheelin' is to not build up the vehicle so much that it is all mechanical and there are no driving skills involved. I'd much rather conquer a smaller obstacle using driving skills, than to conquer a larger one just because my vehicle is capable of it. I only turn my front locker on if I absolutely have to. In case you can't tell, I love to drive. I probably should have been a truck driver, but one of my medications makes me drowsy at the most inopportune times. |
