PostSubject: New expeditions at Rausch Creek   Sun Jul 22, 2012 8:17 pm

I was just on the RC web site and found some new expeditions on their forums. Wish I had seen this sooner, would have asked Kyle about this at the PA Jeeps show. Anyway it looks like they are putting together 3 or 4 expedition trips including a coal mine trail tour, a bike and hike trail ride, a bird watching tour, and a 3 day trail ride RC camping expedition. These all look like they combine offroading on the RC property with other activities. I found more info on these at the link below.

Here is some more info from Mary@RC.

"The three day expedition ride fee of $250.00 does include park fees. The multi-day pass does not apply to this ride, passenger fees are $25.00 per passenger." Note: dates on this are 28-30 Sep 2012.

"With the new guided adventure rides they are all green trails. We tried to keep the stock or slightly modified vehicle in mind when planning these trail rides. The cost of the rides are $99.00, this includes park fees. Passenger rates are as follows: Rausch member $7.00 and non member $15.00. We have a bird watching tour scheduled for Sunday August 26th and a Coal Mining tour scheduled on Friday August 24th and Sunday Sept 23rd. These tours can be scheduled as long as there is a guide available. Also the "bike" part of the bike and hike tour can be left out if folks aren't big fans of biking."

By the way, I'm thinking about possibly doing the coal mine ride on 23 Sep - undecided right now (Sunday is a school night, I don't want to be getting my son home too late). I know some of you are planning a club ride that day, but I'm not doing blacks in a daily driver with 2" lift and 31" tires. If I end up doing this ride, I'll post a review.

This sounds awesome. I would like to see if we could plan something for just the club!

I sent Mary a message letting her know there is some interest in possibly having an A/O club-exclusive Adventure Ride. I was non-committal about this, and suggested that either Dennis or Sam (or myself) could follow up on this if there is interest. I don't mind following up, but don't want to overstep. I know I've not been shy about suggesting some things, part of this is my experience in Cub Scouts where it seems 20% of the parents shoulder 80% of the load, so anyone who steps up to help out is sincerely appreciated (I'm sure if I go to far with A/O, someone will send me a poilte PM asking me to cool my heels). I also asked Mary if she might be able to send me a message as new Adventure Rides are planned - could be something as simple as lettng me know to check the RC4x4 forum.

I need to send Mary a message about my registration for the coal mine tour on the 23rd. I'm thinking about the following for the club. She mentioned somthing about putting together a Christmas-themed ride. I could ask if we could get one exclusive for the club in December. So maybe Sat Dec 8 or Sat Dec 15 (if she could accomodate either date with a guide). I'm expecting cost would be $99 per vechicle plus usual RC passenger and membership fee ($7/$15). Passes not accepted since this looks to be a separate business venture from the main activity of the park. Don't know I would want to ask for a cheaper rate for the club since I would be asking for an exclusive club ride and many of you who support the other park activities get day passes anyway. Any preferance for either date? Or would you be looking at something earlier (I think she may be putting together an autumn ride too). These are green rides with added stops, if there was interest from the club we could ask for some blues with bypasses to be included.

An autumn run sounds good. Right now for December, we do not have a preferred date although December can be hard to plan with the Christmas activities. We are thinking about having a club Christmas Party sometime in December but we have not settled on a date yet (although we will need to so so soon).

We can't thank you enough for taking the lead on this!

Sounds like a Christmans themed run is still in flux. I think Mary wants to keep this small and see who signs up. I'll ask her about an autumn run. Any preferred dates? Maybe we can talk a little at Mountain tomorrow morning.
