Hey All, From Bel Air Empty
PostSubject: Hey All, From Bel Air   Hey All, From Bel Air EmptySat May 05, 2012 1:37 am

I have been wanting to join an Off Road club for some time but had some reservations about which ones would be family oriented. After service at Mountain my wife and I took some fliers home to look at things to do with our kids and there was Alpha Omega. So here I am.

Off roading has been in my blood since I was 6 (thanks DAD), starting out on dirt bikes (still riding) and worked my way up to Jeeps. Now my kids and wife are into atv's riding at Blue Diamond and also enjoying the Jeep scene.

My Jeep is a 2001 TJ rolling on 33's, I have just recently lifted it and will post some pics when I finish machining my control arms and steering linkage.

I do have one question.

Are there still openings for the town parade July 4th?

Hope to meet some of you very soon

Awesome! Welcome and we are glad you found us. My wife and I live in Abingdon and we attend Mountain Christian church too. Our club tries to be as much about family, fellowship and service as it is wheeling.

There is certainly room for you in the Bel Air parade! We are going to have a planning cookout sometime within the next couple of weeks so watch the forum for updates.

Our club also has a small group bible study the 2nd and 4th wednesday of each month just in case you are interested.

My jeep is a 2006 LJ on 39's. It has about 8" of lift. If you have any questions about the club, etc., feel free to give me a call at 443-528-0991. Looking forward to meeting you and can't wait to see your pics.

Thanks Mudslinger. I believe I had talked to you a few months back about the Bible study. As of now I am so involved in LAX and Soccer. It's tough to get away. This is temporary and will be letting up soon, so I will be freed up to join your study group.

Please keep me informed about the cookout. I had read in another part of the forum that the theme for the parade will be along the lines of POW/MIA. If this still holds true that will be great as this is will be remembrance of our solders, including some of my family members. The Fourth is about our FREEDOM and the people who fought for it.

Anyway, once I finish up some final touches on the Jeep I'll need to take it on a test run. I have heard of a place in Delta, Pa. called Trails Road. It is a legal road to use and looks to be fun. Just google trails road, pa.

I remember talking to you...glad to see you on the forum.

The theme for the Parade is "Land of the Free," and we can't wait to do something to honor our troops. I served in Navy and so did my dad and my grandfather-so it is important to me to say "thank you" to those that serve and have served.

Yes, we know about trails road. If you look through the forum it has been a topic of much discussion in the past. Basically, the club does not endorse running on trails road as a place to wheel. That being said, some of our members do go on their own. We obviously cannot tell you what to do on your own but just be careful if you do go as there are residents (not all) that are very upset with people wheeling back there. Unfortunately, some folks that go back there (not Alpha Omega members) to wheel have acted disrespectfully and that creates issues for everyone.

That is the one thing that you will find about our club, our members are a true example of how to "tread lightly" and be respectful. If fact, Rausch Creek has placed people with our group if they show up at the park without someone to wheel with because they know our club will take care of them.

We are asking for dates that our members are available for the parade planning...so take a look at your schedule and let us know. Can't wait to meet you!

I agree with you 100% on the running of trails road. No I would not go back there with a big group but I would like to see what it is all about. About treading lightly, again I am on the same page as your group.

When is the ideal time you all want to meet for the planning of the parade?

Awesome!

We are looking at June 2nd for the cookout/planning date. Right now, not sure about the time, but probably afternoon.

Under the topic Outreach and Serving events there is a thread. If you can, go ahead and post up if you are available on the 2nd and what time would work for you guys!

Thanks!

Do you all have silent auctions to raise money for charity or anything of that nature?

Holy COW, could I be ANY slower to come in here?!?!?! I apologize! WELCOME! I have really been happy reading this thread!!! Everything about our freedom and those who fought for it.....WELL SAID!

Like Chris (JeeperX) said, we're out here in sunny ARIZONA....it IS great, huh? We're heading out tomorrow on a run and then having a little BBQ/Pool party. It's easy to just run out anywhere and do anything from easy to insane.

We're glad you are here and I hope you enjoy it and have fun!!! You couldn;t ask for a better group of people to be with...we miss them tremendously!

Hi TJX. Slow, your beyond the 7 second delay. Sleep It's probably the beautiful AZ weather you have out there, it's all good.
I will try to make most of the outings, it's tuff with kids and sports but we will attend. This group seems to be absolutely awesome, I am glad to be a part of it.

I forgot that I had some pics of my 1974 CJ-5 that I had rebuilt from the ground up. It has a warmed over AMC 304, low range T-18 4 speed and a Holley Pro-jection system. But I sold it a few years back. A 2001 TJ has taken it's place and it's a rolling project. The pic is not that great... Crying or Very sad I know, it's a driveway shot!!!!!!! Neutral

The old CJ was a fun Jeep to drive. The one thing I do miss is the V-8 power...
