| When not takin gout the off road toy, what do you enjoy driving/riding. My other toy is a 2006 Honda Goldwing with ABS, NAV, upgrade electronics with 4GB MP3 and lots of chrome. She has 11,400 miles on her and is awesome to just cruise. A few moths ago, the wife and I joined the Patriot Guard Riders to Honor our troops coming home, so I have setup both bikes for escort service. | Nice. I just have the Xterra and the Wrangler, both of which are DD and offroad rigs....nothing as fancy as your extra-offroadical affair. | |

| The old xterra is a goner -- they are calling it a total loss primarily because of frame damage. Will be getting a new Xterra Pro-4x as soon as the settlement the insurance company is done. Right now, I am driving a borrowed 1996 Buick LeSabre. My wife's car is a BMW 318ti ("trunk impaired"), a hatchback model they made for two years. My summer time recreational ride is this: The photo was taken at the BWM National rally, in 105 degree heat. k_enn | |

| Lol, no nice bikes or beamers... Just the 2 Jeeps (and a vehicle that will remain un-named). But, at least we can play games in the driveway with them, like tug-a-war! | |

| Some lady ran a stop sign right in front of me. Couldn't stop in time, and couldn't avoid her. T-boned into her. No one hurt.
Took out the front fenders and hood, all the grill work, bent up the shrock bumper, and bent the front of the frame. The frame is the killer.
Looking to get a Xterra Pro-4x. It may a while before I am able to take it wheeling.

| Just ordered the Pro-4x yesterday. I am getting it in night armor color, and with the manual transmission. Should be in later this week.

| Got the truck last week. It sweet. The Pro-4x (used to be called the Offroad) comes with all the farkles except the step rails (which means I am not paying something I will get rid of when I get Shrock sliders). It has some nice upgrades - a Dana 44 variant in the rear with an electronic locker, Bilstein longer travel shocks, clutch interlock by-pass, roof-rack lights, BGF rugged trail tires instead of the BFG long trail tires. It feel like it has a higher ground clearance, at least when compared to my first gen.
Spent the last couple of days installing the CB (scary pulling interior panels on a brand new truck to route the antenna) and the CO2 Powertank.
I like the extra power of the second gen Xterras. Pretty peppy with the 6-speed manual.
Unfortunately, it won't see the trails for about a year or so (until after it gets banged up a bit by shopping carts at the supermarket and I get aftermarket armor).

| k_enn, The new Xterra's are a sweet machine. They have come along way since 2000. My buddy had a 2002 with the 3.3 Supercharged motor. It wasn't too quick, but man did that blower sound good when he stomped on it. Good luck with the new whip. Earlier this year, I was finally able to buy my dream car. It's a 09 Pontiac G8 GT. I wanted one since they first same out in 2008. Yeah it's not 4x4, but it's a blast to drive. | |

Funny that you mentioned a 2002 supercharged Xterra. That was my previous vehicle -- 2002 supercharged X with a 5 speed manual. That was the only year the supercharged was available in the US with a stick shift. With the manual, and the blower, that thing moved pretty good for a 4,000 pound truck. The second gen X, with a six speed manual and bigger engine, hauls pretty good. k_enn

| That's probably why his was somewhat doggish. He had the 4 speed auto. I don't recall what all he had done to it, I know it's wasn't stock though. Didn't the manuals have less power stock then the slushboxes? | |
