hello from Pittsburgh

I have been looking for a place to go off road. I have a 98' stock TJ - and I am interested in mild/moderate trails to start with. I have not been off-roading before but this site seems great! I was drawn to this forum by the family atmosphere/ Christian values shown. I have a few questions?

Do many take wives/children?

Many other un-modified vehicles?

How is Rock Run for un-modified vehicles?

We usually have a day of mild/moderate and a day of harder stuff (our runs are usually a full weekend, but some people only make one day or another) Usually on the harder day, we run things that have bypasses for the people who are mild/moderate. We try to stick together, cheering each other on.

We're happy you're here and we hope you can make it to a run with us. I know you're from the western end of the state, but it's worth it if you can stay the whole weekend. We either camp or stay at the hotels. We really DO have a blast and have a great bunch here.

There are many wives that come...some, not-so-much. It depends on whether they enjoy offroading or not. We tend to have times where there are several children and sometimes, like this weekend, I was the only girl and there were no kids. It fluctuates. Families are always invited.

We have many stages of 'build' with the rigs that show up. We have everything from stock to budget...and then we have Greg. hehehe props

You can see his HERE But, do not let the guys with the big rigs worry you....they are just happy to be out there in the woods having fun. They are great teachers and happy to help anyone.

We are taking our first trip to Rock Run in september. I think only one of our members has been there. From what I hear, they have mild/moderate and hard, just like Rausch Creek.

Welcome. I think that Pattey answered the questions well.

One of the things that I love about our club and members is that we enjoy showing a new person what a vehicle is capable of. Alot of times the people at Rausch will send them our way knowing that we will take care of them. We will not do anything that the least capable vehicle cannot do. Most trails have easy bypasses for those that choose not to do the harder trail. Even with all the Mods some of us have, just being in the woods makes me happy.

Our next run to RC is July 24 and 25th, please join us if you can.

Welcome to the site and the club. I believe we have a trail ride planned for Rock Run in mid to late September. I don't believe any of us have ever been there yet. It's been basically a park for ATV's, but about 1 1/2 years ago they started adding trails for 4WD vehicles. From what I understand the current choices there are easy or hard with not much in between.

By the way, from your handle I take it you've got a connection to Penn State. I'm a 1967 graduate.

Thanks for the welcome. I will keep checking in as I want with you all to Rock Run. I need to double check the regs and purchase what I don't have (tow stap, etc.)

Yes Safari, I am a 04' grad went back as an 'adult' student.

welcome to the site. rock run was opened up for our sport about a year ago on a "let's see how it works out" basis. big rubbers 4x4 was pretty instamental in getting that done.
