Subject: Track Bar Adjustment Mon May 11, 2009 11:58 pm
I put on the Rustys steering system and now I cannot keep the Jeep on the road.
I was talking to some others friends tonight and they had a similar problem when putting on a high Steer Kit. It was alinged perfect but still wandered. They had to have the track bar lengthened and it fixed the issue. I can get the alignment done but they don't know about the track bar. Anyone had this issue that could pitch in info? I would like to have it done by the weekend and take my Jeep to the Pines but... Alignment will be thursday.

If the steering system is just steering parts i.e. no change in lift, then the problem is toe in. That would be the only thing that could change. Track bar issues and caster would only change if you're changing the lift stuff. You can check for proper trackbar adjustment by just dropping a plumb line from the fender to the tire on each side and see if it lands in the same spot on each side. If your trackbar isn't adjustable you can use the AutoDoc Redneck one-time adjustable trackbar.
In case you're interested here is the post I wrote a while back when I was fighting DW

No DW What ended up being the issue was the trackbar mount at the Axle broke creating the slop that I had in the wheel. Steve came over today and we fixed that, then later the rear DS U-Joints blew apart and now it is back to wheel'n the Dodge this weekend.
