Got this in a email. I know Pattey already sent one.

WPA-4XTRAC needs your help to get Rock Run open to 4x4s!
Rock Run is a recently developed multi-use public park in Cambria County, western PA. While primarily intended for ATV use, the land was funded with grants from DNCR's ATV fund and is promoted for shared use by hikers, bikers, and equestrians, but not 4x4's.

However, the group WPA-4XTRAC (Western PA 4x4 Trail Advisory Committee) was formed by some local 4WD club members who were asked to sample some of the Rock Run trails in their 4x4 vehicles. The work of WPA-4XTRAC has lead to a Tots for Tots run last fall and a recent run on new trails at the beginning of the July 2008.

WPA-4xTRAC is calling for 4x4 enthusiast to write emails into Rock Run's managing committe to encourage them to continue 4x4 trail development. Please follow the link to WPA-4xTRAC's website, read the full story and tell them you want trails opened for 4x4 use.

http://wpa4xtrac.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=164 There are also some pictures from the recent trail ride.

This is the only opertunity to work towards opening a public 4x4 off-road park in PA and we need to be sure the opertunity is not lost.

cheers Also, I wrote Rock Run a nice letter of CONGRATS last week and asked about the
park, told them alittle about us and received a great letter back with some great information
and a couple contacts to get a hold of for when we decide to go visit. They said they look
forward to seeing us out there.

COol. pirat

I have a phone number to contact someone about a run. I'm working on it as we speak.
I'm thinking maybe if we can plan it quickly enough, we can make a run at it in September.
We can see if we can have the CC run there or have to have a separate one. October is
also a good time, but I was shooting for the Pine Barrens for that month. I'll have to start
a new thread with a poll once I find out the park's status in those later months.

yeah

I personally sopke with Rep. Gary Halusk and he put me in contact with "Dan58" on the RC forum who sent me these personal messages:

1 Hi Ed. I'm on the steering committee for the 4wd trails at Rock Run. State Rep. Haluska asked me to contact you. Any questions I can answer for you?

2 I live in Johnstown, so I'm pretty close to the park. We've had a ton of requests for people to come up to the park. It's only had two rides so far. It's pretty much only been the 4 clubs that did all the trail cutting work that have been on the trail rides. It's not a big park (yet) because they still have to stay within the master plan. It's an ATV park, first and foremost. We are a secondary thought, but it's sure as heck a lot better than nothing.
As for the clubs, we have had a ton of interest. We're hoping to bring in clubs as a group because it will be a little easier to manage. Have the president of both clubs contact me @ twrestler@hotmail.com I'll get in touch with them. We will likely have one or two open rides this fall, but it will be for a limited number of vehicles. Be sure to keep an eye on the http://wpa4xtrac.org website.

Dan

3 No problem. Have them email me.

I suggest you contact Dan at twrestler@hotmail.com to stay in the loop.

Ed

I received a message from Dan at 4XTRAC and he is going to try to include us on
a run this fall. NO promises, as they've had a LOT of requests...but it's a start. And
there's always next summer.

They're doing great things there and I would really appreciate and love it if you each
could send a message to the two emails in Chris' original post above. They'll GREATLY
appreciate it...and if you love wheelin' (and I know you do) it's a good way to show it.

have a safe and happy weekend. group hug
