Pattey, I guess in your profession you have seen some bad outcomes of motorcycle riding, so I don't blame you. But I love to ride, and God willing I will always ride. *If* you ride with common sense (always wear riding gear, boots, full helmet, allow for two possible unexpected problems in every curve, ride like everyone on the road is out to get you, etc.) it not too dangerous. I have been riding for 25 years, and only had one accident (lost it on a curve when I only allowed room for one problem and ran into two, and had to dump the bike). The riding statistics when I was learing to ride were interesting. They said 90% of all motorcycle accidents happen to riders who have been riding less than a year. My observations still seem to bear that out. Also, I think another statistic was that on average there is one accident/crash for every 20 years of riding. When you combine that with the statistice that 90% happen in the first year, you are looking pretty good once you get past that first year.
